In 1992, Daisy Jaffé and her late husband Alberto became artists in residence at Pensacola Christian College. As internationally recognized musicians, they shared their talent with thousands of students. The Jaffés still influence countless students worldwide through their Jaffé Strings method of instruction, a teaching method that allows students to learn to play music without having to practice at home.
The Jaffé children also inherited their parents’ love of music, and that has been an integral part of the family. Because of Daisy’s part in drawing the family together, they wanted to perform a special concert to honor her legacy. Daisy was delighted to have several generations of Jaffés travel from all over the world to play for the concert.
On Saturday, November 1, this concert took place in the Dale Horton Auditorium. PCC students, faculty, staff, and the community were invited to show their appreciation for Daisy with the rest of the Jaffé family. This performance featured two parts, the first featuring Daisy Jaffé on the piano and the second featuring the Jaffé Family Players. Grandchildren Nicholas and Victoria Jaffé emceed the event, giving us a glimpse into Daisy’s life with two memorable slideshows. The concert included selections from Bach to Brazillian composer Villa-Lobos, with explanations of the ensemble pieces provided by Claudio, Marcelo, and Renata, Daisy’s children. Hundreds of guests honored the family and Daisy by congratulating them following the concert. Those who attended were inspired by all that Daisy has accomplished in her life, to which she would simply reply, “Praise the Lord.”
This concert will be available on Watch PCC in the coming weeks.
