Saturday, October 11, Pensacola Christian College faculty, staff, and students enjoyed an impressive piano trio concert featuring Triple Cortado. Combining trumpet, trombone, and piano, Caleb Hudson (trumpet, Texas), Achilles Liarmakopoulos (trombone, Greece), and Ahmed Alom (piano, Havana, Cuba/New York City) bring a unique sound to traditional chamber music. The morning of their performance, the musicians taught a masterclass in the Mullenix Chapel where they worked with PCC brass quintet.
As a special promotion for this Fine Arts event, the on-campus coffee café Common Grounds sold a special limited-edition triple cortado, a drink containing three shots of espresso and steamed milk. Students also had the opportunity to participate in the Red Carpet Event, a formal experience with an upscale atmosphere; attendees were able to go to the MacKenzie Great Hall and enjoy themed refreshments and photo opportunities with elegant backdrops. Susan Ward, the producer for this Fine Arts Series, said, “Triple Cortado brought a dynamic energy to Fine Arts; vibrant repertoires from all over the world were featured, as well as their own brilliant arrangements of timeless classics.”
