On Monday, May 5, David Grant stepped into the presence of the Lord he faithfully served. Through nearly five decades of ministry, he poured his life into students at Pensacola Christian in a most remarkable way.
Beginning in 1972, David served as a PCA coach, faculty member, and athletic director. He also ministered through Camp o’ the Pines and various roles at PCC. No matter the setting—on the court, in the classroom, or at camp—his message was consistent: You are fearfully and wonderfully made. He reminded students that their value wasn’t measured by performance but anchored in the truth of their Creator.
David believed coaching wasn’t just about the scoreboard. He saw each practice and game as an opportunity to influence lives. His witness and encouragement was observed by players and fans alike, and his priority was on the character and testimony of his players rather than the trophies they earned.
In recognition of Coach Grant’s lasting impact, the Academy baseball field was named in his honor—Grant Field—a fitting tribute to a man who saw sports not as a stage for self, but as a platform for shaping lives.
David and his wife, Landra, shared 45 years of service at both PCA and PCC—a bond of faith and devotion that was an example to many. Their quiet commitment to Christ and each other touched generations of students and colleagues through a spirit of dedication, kindness, and grace.
The PCA and PCC family join in praying for Landra and the Grant family during this time, asking for God’s comfort and peace.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Faith Chapel.
