Dr. John Gettys Allen stepped into eternity on the evening of Saturday, March 8, 2025, entering the presence of the Lord he so faithfully served.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Dr. Allen joined Pensacola Christian School (Academy) in 1964, bringing with him a deep love for music and a heart for ministry. By day, he worked diligently in the transportation department—serving as transportation director, CDL trainer, and driver’s education instructor—but his true joy was found in music. That passion led him to create Heavenly Harmonies, a 15-minute weekly radio program that filled the airwaves with songs of faith and encouragement.
As the first and long-standing choir director and song leader in Campus Church, his warm smile and boundless enthusiasm inspired musicians to use their talents for God’s glory. His music ministry extended far beyond the church walls through conferences, choir programs, and weekly Rejoice in the Lord television—each opportunity a chance to share the hope of Christ through music.
After more than four decades of dedicated service, Dr. Allen retired, leaving a legacy of faithfulness and excellence. Today, his influence continues in the lives of those he encouraged and inspired over those years.
Dr. Allen and his wife, Lois, who went home to be with the Lord in 2019, were deeply loved members of the PCC community. In honor of their tireless dedication, the Allen Chapel and Reception Room bear their name—a lasting tribute to their faithfulness and service.
We extend our deepest sympathy to his daughter Kimberly and her family during this loss. May they find peace in the promise of heaven and strength in the heritage of faith Dr. Allen leaves behind.
Visitation will take place at the Dale Horton Auditorium on Saturday, March 15, at 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m.
