    Christmas Here and There

After a semester full of events, projects, and outreach, Christmas break is finally here! During finals week, Pensacola Christian College students are often found in the Commons, on Varsity Terrace, or in the Rebekah Horton Library studying for finals—and maybe some last-minute online Christmas gift shopping.

    Eddie Cross

Some students, like freshman Eddie Cross (AR), readily recalled their favorite campus event from the semester. “My favorite PCC activity was most likely Midnight Madness,” he said. “Just the whole energy of the place under black lights was exhilarating.”

    Esther Reithmeyer

“I always look forward to Christmas Lights, but I love going to the Fine Arts too. Probably the Ice Flyers Student Outing, the Christmas Lights, and the first Fine Arts,” said Esther Reithmeyer (Jr., VA). “The people that I went with” is why Esther enjoyed those events the most.

Before heading home, many students try to sit down with friends and celebrate the holidays together before separating for Christmas break. “To celebrate Christmas, my friends and I do a gift exchange, and we buy cookies and Christmas drinks and have them the last Friday of the semester in the Commons,” said Eddie.

    Jackson Russell

“We had a Christmas party at our Christian Service. All the kids were there and [we] gave out gifts,” said Jackson Russel (Jr., VA).

    Emily Ragle

While at home, students can use the time away to relax, work, and enjoy spending time with family and friends, but there are a few things students look forward to specifically. “One of my favorite family traditions during Christmas break is walking through downtown Cincinnati with my family,” said Emily Ragle (Sr., OH). “We eat at one of the restaurants, pick up a hot chocolate, and walk up and down the streets admiring the lights.”

“I’m so looking forward to food and home-cooked meals and everything,” said Esther.

A semester filled to the brim with productions, concerts, and campus events has officially wrapped up, leaving plenty of room to enjoy a cup of eggnog or peppermint hot chocolate before the spring semester begins.

We at PCC are praying our students stay safe as they travel to and from campus this Christmas break. In the meantime, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
