Flowers, formals, and photos can mean only one thing—it’s time for Fine Arts! This year’s Fine Arts Series started on a patriotic note with the a cappella stylings of the Liberty Voices and the Humdingers. Pensacola Christian College last enjoyed Liberty Voices in October 2017. In anticipation of Hurricane Nate making landfall in Mississippi that evening, the event was creatively adapted into a casual matinee performance.

During this year’s formal event, the Liberty Voices showcased their talents with American classics including “This Is My Country” and “God Bless America” as well as Disney favorites like “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” and “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes.” The Humdingers, a barbershop quartet that captivated the crowd with their organ chimes, gave comedic performances that included “When Irish Eyes Are Smilin’” and “Main Street USA.”

During “Fifty Nifty United States,” Liberty Voices lead Dirk Donahue encouraged crowd members to participate by cheering when the state they were most proud of was called. The group was delighted when each state found representation among guests in the Crowne Centre.

Leann Hillis, a graduate assistant at PCC, saw the Liberty Voices perform two years ago. “I loved this performance more because they were able to do more and perform their entire set; I remember that last time I didn’t want them to stop!” she said. “Through their singing, it was great to reflect on how good God has been to this country.”
