Friday night, April 17, excitement filled the air as Pensacola Christian College students gathered on Eagle Field. At 10:30, the annual Missions Run began with a burst of colors; students laughed as chalk flew into the air, coating runners and bystanders alike. With a shout, students took off—some running, others walking.
Each year, the student body officers meet with President Shoemaker to choose a ministry the mission project can support. This year, junior Cammie Spicer (WV), student body vice president, knew of a church that could benefit from the College’s project. Pastor Dexter Kirby of Grace Community Baptist Church (GCBC) had felt called to build a Christian school on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent earlier this year. Hearing of this ministry’s needs, the other student body officers agreed that the GCBC community would be the subject of the 2026 Mission Project. “We officers are passionate about the mission to build the island’s first and only Christian school,” shared Cammie. “The fact that this student body gets to make a difference for future generations is a remarkable opportunity and privilege!” This year’s mission project raised $35,820.03 for the GCBC building project.
