To show appreciation to their fans for their avid support this season, the Pensacola Christian College Eagles and the Lady Eagles hosted the first-ever Eagle Pride Tailgate. Trucks lined the streets near the Four Winds as fans and players celebrated with games, food, friends, and a ring of fire to roast marshmallows for s’mores.
Hundreds of students attended the event, with many enjoying exclusive VIP privileges including free concessions. Students were awarded VIP access based on the number of home games they attended during the season.
Christina Payton (Sr., CA) felt right at home hanging out with friends at the cookout. She said, “I already go to the games with my friends, so this is an extra bonus. The food is really awesome, and I’m meeting a lot of new people.”
Valentin Espinoza (So., TX) attended every Eagles and Lady Eagles game he could. “I have to go; it’s essential,” he said. “This is my first time ever doing a tailgate. It’s a lot of fun.”
AnaBelle Eidson (Jr., FL) said, “I’ve gone to all the girls’ home games and most of the guys’ home games this season. The Tailgate is something that’s never been done before, so I think it’s exciting for people to be here and hang out with each other.”
The Eagles went on to compete in the NCCAA South Region tournament in Jacksonville, FL, while the Lady Eagles hosted the NCCAA South Region Tournament on campus. After defeating their opponents, both teams are now headed to the national tournament, focused on the ultimate goal.
